Judge Dismisses Trump DOJ’s Antisemitism Lawsuit Against Harvard

A federal judge dismissed the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) antisemitism lawsuit against Harvard University on Thursday.

President Donald Trump’s DOJ alleged that Harvard University “turned a blind eye to antisemitism and discrimination against Jews and Israelis” on campus, arguing the incidents violated Title VI of the Civil Rights Act.

U.S. District Judge Richard Stearns ultimately struck down the case, saying the alleged incidents of antisemitism were “too isolated and episodic to support a plausible inference that any institutionalized noncompliance with title VI persist at Harvard to this day.” (RELATED: Trump Suing Harvard Again For ‘Turning Blind Eye’ To Anti-Jewish Harassment On Campus)

“The Amended Complaint focuses almost entirely on incidents that took place during the 2023-2024 school year,” Stearns added.

The alleged that Harvard was “deliberately indifferent” to a “hostile educational environment” against Jewish and Israeli students. The administration initially asked the court to compel Harvard to return all federal grants during the period the alleged antisemitic activity was taking place.

“Harvard has failed to enforce its rules or meaningfully discipline the mobs that occupy its buildings and terrorize its Jewish and Israeli students,” the March lawsuit reads. “Harvard instead rewarded students who assaulted, harassed, or intimidated their Jewish and Israeli peers.” (RELATED: ‘Harvard Is Woke; The War Department Is Not’: Pentagon Terminates Academic Partnerships With Ivy League University)

Assistant Attorney General in the Civil Rights Division Harmeet Dhillon said the department is “assessing next steps” and is actively “investigating antisemitism nationwide.”

“The Civil Rights Division has an extensive and active portfolio of antisemitism enforcement, including indictments, prosecutions, settlements, and investigations across the country,” Dhillon added.

The Trump administration previously pursued legal action against numerous other universities over alleged antisemitism.

Columbia University was investigated over alleged antisemitism and reached a settlement worth more than $200 million. Several other universities like Yale, UCLA, and Brown University faced federal scrutiny and legal pressure over alleged antisemitism, but have not been sued.
