Packers’ Josh Jacobs Hit With Two Misdemeanor Charges

Josh Jacobs, a star running back for the Green Bay Packers, caught two misdemeanor charges Thursday, according to Wisconsin court records. The charges are for battery and criminal damage to property.

The charges against Jacobs come more than three months after an arrest that stemmed from a domestic incident that took place at his home near Green Bay. (RELATED: 49ers Owner Jed York Arrested After Allegedly Trying To Pay Prostitute)

“Our office sought to ensure a fair and complete review of available evidence, some of which only recently became available to our office due to significant, ongoing forensic efforts by law enforcement,” Brown County District Attorney David L. Lasee said in an official statement, according to ESPN.

“A criminal complaint is nothing more than a written, formal accusation against a defendant alleging the commission of criminal offenses and does not raise any inference of guilt,” Lasee adde. “Mr. Jacobs is presumed innocent of these charges. As this is an ongoing criminal case, and out of respect for the rights of all parties, our office will not have further comment on the matter at this time.”

According to the criminal complaint both charges are Class A misdemeanors, and could result in Jacobs spending up to nine months in prison and paying up to a $10,000 fine if convicted, ESPN noted.

The criminal complaint states that a woman, who has been identified as Jacobs’ girlfriend, told police that she discovered him talking with other women while looking through his phone. She then became angry and threw his phone, telling Jacobs he could look through her phone and demanding he call a car to take her to Chicago.

Jacobs then refused to return her phone and allegedly grabbed her arm and started a tussle between the two that lasted several minutes.

According to the complaint, the woman later attempted to leave Jacobs’ garage when he allegedly “grabbed her and threw her to the ground and she struck her head, suffering an injury,” per ESPN.

According to the report, an officer “observed redness to [her] face and neck and was able to feel that she had a bump on the back of her head. She described that she was in pain as a result of the injuries.” The woman also claims that Jacobs did not return one phone, and damaged another.
