Jake Reiner Gives Emotional First Interview After Devastating Loss Of Parents Rob And Michele Reiner

Jake Reiner gave his first television interview since his parents Michele and Rob Reiner were brutally murdered.

In an interview with KABC-TV’s Mark Cota-Robles released August 27, Jake opened up about the harsh reality of losing more than half his family at the same time.

“It’s been 8 months. It feels like 8 years at the same time, and it also feels like 8 minutes,” he said. “Because every moment that I wake up, I’m reminded of my reality.”

Jake spoke fondly of his late parents, who were allegedly stabbed to death by his brother, Nick.

“My parents had unconditional love for all three of us,” he said.

He also recalled the fateful phone call from his sister, Romy, on Dec. 14, 2025, that forever changed the course of his life.

“Romy told me our dad was dead and then she said, ‘I can’t find mom,’” Jake said.

Both his parents were found dead inside their home, and within hours, his brother Nick was arrested.

Jake expressed the profound grief of losing his parents while his brother remained behind bars, leaving him and Romy to pick up the shattered pieces of their lives.

“Yeah. I mean, he’s in jail, so… ,” he said, seemingly out of words to describe the weight of his feelings.

KABC-TV reported that Jake was restricted from revealing certain information due to the ongoing trial, and noted that although he was comfortable speaking publicly for the first time, Romy was not yet ready to do the same.

Nick remains behind bars after being indicted on two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of his parents. He has pleaded not guilty, and was denied access to the trust fund his parents left for him, which he intended to use to defend himself in court.
