The world No. 1 won the 2026 Tour Championship and the FedEx Cup on Sunday at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, beating Viktor Hovland by three strokes, according to NBC Sports. Scheffler started the final round three shots back but erased the gap early and closed with a 4-under 66 to finish at 16 under.

Scheffler grabbed the drink almost as soon as he walked off the course. He said reporters were waiting to pull him into media obligations, and he ducked inside partly to escape the heat, in a video shared by Golf Digest. “I went there you know, these guys are trying to get me to do media and all this stuff and was like, well, how much time do I really have? I was like, alright, let me just go inside so I can get some air conditioning,” Scheffler said in the video. “And then there was an open bar right there, and I was like, alright I’m grabbing a beer.”

He noted that he rarely drinks, and the moment caught the attention of those closest to him. “It’s like, ‘yeah, well, season’s over now. I’m gonna have a beer. A well-earned beer,’” Scheffler said.

For dinner, his thoughts ran just as unfussy. Scheffler said he was craving a big cheeseburger with fries and maybe a milkshake.

The win handed Scheffler a $10 million share of the $40 million purse, according to NBC Sports. He captured his second FedEx Cup, joining Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy as the only players with multiple titles, and he passed Woods atop the PGA Tour career money list with earnings above $130 million, according to NBC Sports.

The victory was Scheffler’s 22nd on Tour and his third of 2026, according to NBC Sports. “I think days like today are really fun,” Scheffler said.
