‘Friday The 13th’ Legend Dead At 86
Victor Miller, screenwriter of the horror classic “Friday the 13th,” and creator of the iconic horror character Jason Voorhees, died Monday at 86.

His death was announced by his son Ian in a message shared Tuesday on Instagram.
“Yesterday my father, Victor Miller, went to his final reward,” Ian wrote.
“He was almost always the smartest, funniest person in whatever room he was in. He inspired in me, and many others, a love of photography, music, and storytelling.”
Ian nodded to his father’s legacy by writing, “For those who are interested, we will hold a celebration of life in November — on Friday the 13th, of course.”

“Friday the 13th” went on to become a cult classic and one of the most recognizable horror movies of its era. Its terrifying premise and summer-camp setting helped define the slasher genre, while the franchise’s infamous killer, Jason Voorhees, became a horror icon. Decades later, the film remains a staple among horror fans and continues to influence the genre.
Miller also wrote for several hit television shows, including “All My Children,” “One Life to Live,” “Another World,” “Guiding Light,” and “General Hospital.”

Ian closed off his touching tribute to his father by writing, “He is survived by his wife, two sons, and his grandson.”
