As a result of an internal investigation into a human resources complaint that was filed by a former front office employee of North Carolina, Lombardi has been on paid leave, according to a late July report from ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

Since then, the investigation has expanded to include lawyers contacting Tar Heels coaches, staffers, and even coaches’ wives and girlfriends, according to ESPN’s David Hale. Witnesses have been asked questions regarding Lombardi’s role in the hiring and firing process for female and minority staffers.
