Los Angeles’ much-anticipated trip Down Under resulted in a 27-7 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, and it’s a game that McVay would like to forget.

“I want to see us be present right now and move forward,” said McVay. “That game is so far — it’s almost like you try to do the ‘Men in Black’ thing where you say, ‘Hey, I don’t remember what happened. That was so long ago.’ We’re not playing in Australia ever again, I hope. Not because it wasn’t a great atmosphere, that’ll get taken out of context.”

The fans Down Under were great, sure. The novelty factor was massive. But the NFL really needs to stop with these traveling circus acts that are meant for nothing but corporate vanity.

Plus, a lot of Americans are just sick of the foreign experiment at this point. I’ve talked about this in a past blog before; how we’re sick of getting dunked on by foreigners just for them to steal our culture. And now you’re telling me that NFL head coaches aren’t down with this party either?

And when you’re focusing in on the actual people who built this league, you know, Americans, you have to ask yourself this: Why should a die-hard fan in Cleveland or Detroit lose a legitimate home game — an edge in the divisional race — just so the league office can chase an international footprint?

And you just know they’re paying the same price for season tickets.

The NFL should remember where its bread is buttered, stop treating loyal American fans like an afterthought, and keep our game right where it belongs: at home.
