New Information Surfaces After Iconic Prop Comic’s Attempted Suicide
Carrot Top remains hospitalized after attempting to take his own life Sept. 18.
The actor and comedian, whose real name is Scott Thompson, was rushed to a Las Vegas hospital after an emergency at his home, later revealed to be a suicide attempt, according to TMZ.
“Scott remains hospitalized and under close medical care. He is now awake, breathing on his own and continuing to improve, surrounded by his family and those closest to him,” his representative told TMZ.
The representative told the outlet that his suicide attempt followed extortion attempts from a man who threatened to release sexually explicit footage.
The man who Carrot Top’s legal team claims tried to extort the comedian with a sexually explicit recording is speaking out … and claims he never threatened to release the video ahead of his suicide attempt.
Carrot Top’s attorney said a man named Brian Evans demanded a $500,000 settlement and threatened to submit the alleged recording to court if he wasn’t paid, according to TMZ.
Evans claimed that the sensitive material on a USB drive was already deleted.
“I never threatened — ever — to post any video anywhere in exchange for a settlement. The video they are discussing — as I made very clear — was deleted a long time ago in accordance with the prior settlement,” Evans told TMZ.

Evans noted he was “sorry that Scott apparently did something to hurt himself,” before asserting, “I do not consider Scott to be a bad person … based on what I know — but he made a few decisions that were not good ones. That is not a reason to hurt himself.”
He rose to his own defense by saying, “Finally, it’s not my fault … that Scott did what he did. We don’t even actually know what he did. He survived and I am glad about that.”

Carrot Top’s representative said he is keeping his sense of humor, that medical staff are caring for him, and that he’s touched by the “many messages from fans.”
Performances at the Luxor Casino have been canceled while Carrot Top focuses on his recovery.
