Mike Huckabee Goes On 1,000-Word Rant After Politico Accuses Top Advisor Of Soliciting Cash Gifts From Israelis

U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee posted a lengthy rant Monday in response to a Politico article that accused his senior advisor, David Milstein, of soliciting cash gifts from Israelis to celebrate his wedding.

Politico Playbook reported Monday that Milstein, who has top-secret security clearance, sent a Paperless Post wedding invitation Sept. 16 asking for “monetary wedding gift[s]” in either “U.S. dollars or shekels,” but later took down the QR codes and notified invitees the request was mistakenly sent to a bigger email list than intended. The outlet quoted an anonymous intelligence official who said soliciting cash gifts from foreigners while holding that clearance level could be a national security threat. “Unfortunately, our email/message intended only to respond to requests from family and close family friends who had asked us if we had a gift registry was unintentionally sent to the broader guest list. Please know we cannot accept gifts of any kind,” Milstein’s revised note said, according to Politico.

In a nearly 1,000-word X post, Huckabee blasted the outlet and expressed support for Trump’s recent White House media ban, which kicked out Politico as well as CNN and MS Now.

“Just when you didn’t think some DC muckraking ‘journalist’ could fill a column with more manure than the elephant barn at the zoo, along comes ‘Politicrap’ (Politico) with an attempted hit job on an Embassy Jerusalem staffer. It’s a ‘swing and a miss’ that reminds us all why we hold the media in complete contempt as they display a new low in TDS and justifies @realDonaldTrump for giving the more reckless dishonest ‘news’ outlets the bums rush,” he wrote.

Fox News host Mark Levin, Milstein’s stepfather, also attacked Politico on Monday, claiming the story was “character-assassination” and one of the “most appalling and dishonest” pieces he has seen in decades.

“David did not ‘solicit cash gifts from Israeli citizens to celebrate his upcoming wedding,’” Levin said. “David was asked by family members, who live all over the world and throughout the country, about gifts for his upcoming wedding and if he was registered anywhere. David responded to requests by sending an email-message that there was no registration for gifts and suggested an alternative option. The email-message was intended for family and close friends but went to the larger email list of guests.”

The intel community member told Politico that Milstein is “agiant walking counterintelligence red flag” and “the fact that he is blatantly soliciting donations is absolutely jaw dropping.”

Two other anonymous sources told the outlet that people fear Milstein because he is the stepson of Levin, who has a close relationship with President Donald Trump. They also alleged that Milstein drops Levin’s name to protect himself.

“If this was any other employee at this point, he would have his clearance suspended,” the intel member said.
