Alec Baldwin Accused Of Exploiting ‘Rust’ Cinematographer’s Death In New Trailer
Alec Baldwin sparked public outrage after appearing to turn the deadly “Rust” tragedy into self-promotion in a newly released trailer.
“The Trial of Alec Baldwin” trailer released Sept. 10 gives viewers a deeply personal inside look at Baldwin’s experience after the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on Oct. 21, 2021, on the set of the movie Rust.
Comments online call out Baldwin for putting himself front and center in the production, turning the tragedy into a marketing campaign for personal benefit.
The trailer begins with the 911 call notifying first responders of the shooting on the set.
“We need help immediately,” the caller said, after notifying dispatch that two people were “accidentally shot by a prop gun.”

“When they told me she died, I was in shock,” Baldwin said in the clip.
“I was in disbelief.”
Images flashed across the screen — including of Hutchins.
The trailer centered on Baldwin being accosted by the paparazzi and gave viewers insight into his perspective and his journey through the legal process.
“Someone is trying to prosecute him for their political benefit,” someone said in the video.
Baldwin claimed he’d hike up Mount Everest to bring Hutchins back.
“How the hell did I end up in this vortex?” Baldwin said.

Viewers quickly lashed out against Baldwin, asserting he was using Hutchins’ death in what appeared to be self-promotion for personal gain.

One person called the teaser clip “Pro-Alec Propaganda.”
“Is this guy serious? he made a documentary about HIMSELF?” another wrote.
“This guy is just a total loser,” one user said.
“The Trial of Alec Baldwin” is set for a limited theatrical release Oct. 1.
