Lindsay Clancy’s Lawyer Asks Trump For A Pardon
Lindsay Clancy’s attorney Kevin Reddington asked President Donald Trump to grant her a pardon after her case ended in a mistrial Friday.
Reddington urged Trump to consider a pardon Tuesday morning after the jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict on whether she was guilty of premeditating the murders of her three children.
Clancy strangled her children ages five, three, and eight months old, to death with exercise bands in the basement of her home. (RELATED: The Children Are Dead. Why Are We Crying For Lindsay Clancy?)
“Mr. President, I would hope that you would consider this young lady and the person she is, what she’s been through, and consider a pardon,” Reddington said on Good Morning America.
Clancy pleaded not guilty to the three charges of first-degree murder and instead claimed she had suffered from postpartum psychosis.

“It’s a shame. It’s a horrible tragedy,” Trump said of the case Friday after the judge declared a mistrial.
“She did a horrible, horrible thing,” Trump added. “Can’t be worse. But you’ll find out what the price to pay is. There will be a price. It’s going to be a mental institution or jail or something.” (RELATED: Judge Declares Mistrial In Lindsay Clancy Case After Lone Juror Refuses To Budge)
Notably, Trump’s authority to issue pardons and commutations is limited to federal offenses. Clancy was facing state offenses and therefore would not be eligible for a pardon from the president.
