Nearly Three-In-Four Democrats Indicate They’re Comfortable With The Military Overthrowing Donald Trump

A new poll shows that 72 percent of Democrats would either support or have no opinion regarding a military coup against President Donald Trump to “safeguard the Constitution,” as a similar number say that he should be criminally prosecuted.

Conducted by the Center for Strategic Politics in collaboration with Liberal Currents, Monday’s poll asked 683 Democratic voters a range of questions regarding their ideal next steps for American politics. (RELATED: Defamation Case Ruling Supports Claim That Dems’ Star J6 Witness Lied Under Oath)

One question asked how Democrats would respond to waking up to news of one of several scenarios in which Trump is no longer in office.

Of those asked, 86 percent said that they would have positive feelings if Trump were impeached and convicted by Congress and removed from office. Another 84 percent said that they would feel positive about hearing that Trump’s Cabinet used the 25th Amendment to declare the president unfit for office and remove him.

Another 56 percent said that they would feel positive upon hearing that Trump had died overnight in his sleep, and another 31 percent said that they would feel positive about hearing that Trump was assassinated while speaking at a rally.

Additionally, 59 percent of Democrats said that they would feel positive about hearing that a group of U.S. military leaders had removed Trump from power before assuming control of the U.S. in order to “safeguard the Constitution.” Another 13 percent said they would have neither a positive nor a negative opinion. Only 28 percent said that they would have a negative reaction to Trump being removed from office by the military.

Another question asked Democrats if their next administration should pursue criminal prosecution for a range of actions taken by the current administration.

Of those asked, 77 percent said members of Trump’s administration should be held criminally accountable for actions taken by immigration and border enforcement, and 73 percent said that the White House’s homeland security adviser, Stephen Miller, should be prosecuted for his actions involving such enforcement.

Another 72 percent said the administration should be prosecuted for its lethal strikes on boats trafficking drugs to the U.S. in South America, and 57 percent said that members of both the Trump and Biden administrations should be prosecuted for “actions taken related to Israel’s genocide in Gaza.”

For actions taken prosecuting the War in Iran, 66 percent of Democrats said that the administration should be prosecuted, while 69 percent said that Secretary of War Pete Hegseth should face criminal charges for “his role in directing the US military to violate national and international law.”

So, who would Democrats rather have in office today?

When asked how favorable they were of left-wing public figures, 70 percent said they viewed Vice President Kamala Harris favorably, 66 percent said they viewed California Gov. Gavin Newsom favorably, and another 70 percent said they viewed former Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg favorably.

In contrast, The New York Times places Trump’s overall approval rating at only 37 percent as of Tuesday. (RELATED: Republicans Getting Fed Up With Trump’s Iran Project, Poll Shows)

Additionally, a majority of Democrats said that they would support packing the Supreme Court, accepting more immigrants, and the end of the filibuster.
