Netflix Releases Riveting Trailer For New WWII Movie About College Football Players
Netflix dropped the teaser for “The Mosquito Bowl,” thrusting football stars into the brutal battlefields of World War II.

The trailer for the gritty war drama was released Sept. 9, and depicts the true story of four of America’s top college football stars who abandon their athletic careers to enlist in the Marines following the attack on Pearl Harbor.
“As they prepare for the brutal invasion of Okinawa, they’ll play in a legendary game featuring some of the greatest players in history – a game that, for many, will be the last they ever play,” the official synopsis read.

The film is based on Buzz Bissinger’s 2022 book “Mosquito Bowl: A Game of Life and Death in World War II,” and stars Nicholas Galitzine, Bill Skarsgård, Ray Nicholson and Tom Francis.
Under the direction of Peter Berg, the trailer’s visuals are a stunning display of explosive moments and harrowing images of combat.
In a recent interview, Galitzine described the lengths that the cast and crew went to in their efforts to put forth an accurate depiction of war.

“Explosives going off a couple feet from our faces, trees on fire, flames actually catching on us at points, the sounds of war right up close. I’ve never experienced this kind of immersion before in my career,” he added.
The movie follows the men from the early days of the war through the invasion of Okinawa in 1945, during its final months.
“The Mosquito Bowl” releases in theaters Oct. 30 and will stream on Netflix starting Nov. 25.
