ROOKE: Texans Have Been Sounding The Alarm, But No One Was Listening … Until Now

The University of Texas beat Ohio State in a shocking fourth-quarter comeback during Saturday’s primetime college football slot. Still, it wasn’t the victory that drew all eyes to the state.

Viewers noticed that the Longhorn student section on their TV screens was made up mostly of Indian students. If you are a native Texan, this might have been infuriating, but the demographic makeup wasn’t shocking. We’ve been warning the rest of the country that the state had been sold out to the mass immigration lobby for over a decade. No one seemed to understand, or frankly care about, how much Texas has changed in that time.

Now that Americans are awake to the ever-growing issue, let’s talk about it and the culprits behind the replacement of native Texans.

Republican nominee for Texas Railroad Commissioner Bo French shared a still photo of the stands, saying, “I heard UT graduation this year looked like this. I didn’t believe it. The problem is now obviously far worse than anyone imagined.”

This sparked a firestorm of responses. But the ones most noticeable came from within the Texas Republican Party, like Texas Republican state Rep. Lacey Hull, who demanded that French delete his post. She wasn’t alone. State House Speaker Dustin Burrows also joined in on the dogpile.

“You can oppose immigration policy without demeaning people because of their race or ethnicity — this post has crossed the line. Delete it,” Burrows said.

State Rep. Jared Patterson wrote a long rant against French’s post invoking his supposed Christian faith, calling it “racist” and “wrong.” Former Texas state House Speaker Dade Phelan claimed French was not fit for office. The list goes on, but the overarching sentiment is the same. French is supposedly wrong for pointing out that Texas’s demographics have dramatically shifted. His sin, and all of our sin, is noticing.

In an online spat with the CEO and co-founder of the Federalist, Sean Davis, Shapiro claimed Tuesday that statistics show that the problem isn’t that big of a deal.

“People are upset by the systemic displacement and replacement of Americans, specifically white men, with foreigners across every major institution in America. That it is happening in a state like Texas makes it even more stark,” Davis said in response to Shapiro asking him to be specific about why the photo was so radicalizing.

“And it’s not just happening at universities. Entire Texas cities are being taken over. From Frisco, to Irving, to Coppell, entire school districts look more like New Delhi than they do New Braunfels. That this has happened over the same time period in which Americans, particularly white males, have been systemically replaced by H-1Bs and locked out of the workforce, is no coincidence,” Davis added.

Shapiro believed at this point that he had trapped Davis into a corner, which is why he responded, saying, “Texas state law requires that 90% of the total freshman class come from Texas residents. UT must automatically admit the top 5-6% of every graduating high school class. About 4% of undergraduate students are international.”

Shapiro is correct, but only on a technicality. Yes, about 4 percent of the University of Texas’ undergraduate students are international, but this precise phrasing doesn’t explain an entire student section populated with Indian students. Unless, of course, you are willingly ignoring the reality that the reason these students are admitted en masse is that their parents are Texas residents thanks to a decade of federal and state officials settling hundreds of thousands of H-1B workers (mostly of Indian origin) and their families in Texas.

Texas did not become a popular destination for Indian immigration because the weather is great. We are currently living through our third straight month of over-100-degree heat with little to no rain. It happened because state Republicans bent over backward to court private companies that predominantly hire H-1B visa holders over American citizens. In a short time, entire communities were changed without a single Texan voting to approve their replacement. These supposedly temporary visa holders and their families were given every opportunity previously afforded to native Texans: jobs, housing, loans, and education.

The issue Texas faces now is that it seems to have no viable solution. In a just world, the H-1B visa would work as intended and be temporary. The federal government would revoke their right to work in the U.S. and stop the program from continuing to overwhelm the state. But even Republican administrations continue full steam ahead in approving H-1B visas. Once they’re approved, it’s nearly impossible to get them out because an H-1B visa almost guarantees a green card down the road.

The Longhorn student section is the result of failed leadership. It’s a stark reminder for all Americans that the ruling class sold their birthright to the highest bidder. It’s impossible not to notice your hometown changing from a close-knit community to a foreign diaspora. You wouldn’t be patriotic if it didn’t upset you to see it happen. And despite the mass immigration crowd’s pathetic finger-wagging, it doesn’t make you a racist for talking about it. As an Aggie fan, I never thought I’d cheer at the sight of Longhorns fans populating across my social media feed. However, in this case, I’ll make an exception. Maybe now the problem, which barely registered with the rest of the country, will finally be taken seriously.
