‘Jurassic Park’ Actor Dies Suddenly At 78
Veteran actor Sam Neill died unexpectedly at St Vincent’s Private Hospital in Sydney, Australia, at the age of 78.

His family announced his passing Monday, noting that he “passed with the dignity that has characterized his whole life.”

“The loss was sudden and unexpected but blessed by the fact that Sam remained cancer-free,” his family wrote.
The famous actor appeared in “Jurassic Park,” “The Hunt for Red October,” and “The Piano.”
On the small screen, he played Chief Inspector Chester Campbell in the first two seasons of the hit series “Peaky Blinders,” opposite Cillian Murphy.

Neill was an Irish-born actor who spent decades in the entertainment industry. He battled a rare and aggressive form of blood cancer earlier in 2026 but revealed in April that he was cancer-free, according to TMZ.
The circumstances behind his passing and his cause of death remain unknown.

The star’s acting career began in 1977 with roles in “Sleeping Dogs,” “My Brilliant Career,” “The Omen,” and “The Final Conflict.” He starred opposite Nicole Kidman in “Dead Calm” in 1989, and went on to snag leading roles in “Mouth of Madness,” “Event Horizon,” “The Horse Whisperer,” and “Bicentennial Man.”
Neill reprised his role as Dr. Grant in “Jurassic World Dominion” in 2022.
