Canadian Arrested By ICE In New Jersey After Allegedly Assaulting American Teen For Wearing Pro-Trump Clothing

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detained a Canadian woman Monday who allegedly slapped a teen girl for wearing sweatpants with the words “Trump” and “ICE” on a New Jersey boardwalk over the Fourth of July weekend.

Kaitlyn E. Tracey, 33, allegedly approached the teenager and her three friends as they strolled down the Point Pleasant Beach Boardwalk, according to court documents viewed by USA Today. Victim testimony indicates that she “verbally berated” and harassed the teenagers, the documents said. Tracey repeatedly hollered at two individuals in the group with “patriotic colored” sweatpants before slapping a teenager twice, once in her face and once on her body, according to an affidavit of probable cause cited by the outlet.

Security footage captured the alleged assault, police told NJ.com. Tracey was arrested Monday and held in the Ocean County jail after an investigation identified her as the perpetrator.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced Tuesday that Tracey, a “criminal illegal alien,” had been transferred into Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody and would remain there pending immigration litigation.

She was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, simple assault, harassment, and obstruction, according to the DHS statement.

Tracey came into the United States on April 14, 2024, the DHS said. Although her visa was set to expire on Sept. 6, 2024, she remained in the country. She had been living in Asbury Park, New Jersey, with her husband prior to the incident, NJ.com reported. (RELATED: EXCLUSIVE: ICE Officer Saves 14-Year-Old After Teen Jumps Out Of Moving Vehicle)

The teenager she allegedly assaulted, whose age has been removed from court documents, was not injured. Tracey walked away from the scene despite Point Pleasant Beach police officers trying to stop her, according to records cited by USA Today.

Matthew Geroni, a man claiming to be Tracey’s husband, pleaded for help after claiming that ICE took Tracey to Delaney Hall in New Jersey in a video he posted to TikTok on Monday.

“My main goal is the safety and well-being of my wife, and that is about it,” he said in the video, saying that would remain his priority even if she were deported to Canada.

Tracey’s defense attorney, Francis R. Hodgson, explained to the Asbury Park Press that, because Tracey had an ICE detainer, she was taken into ICE custody after her release from the Ocean County Jail following a Monday court hearing, according to USA Today.

Geroni said his wife had not been the aggressor and said they believed it was “insanely blown out of proportion,” he told the Asbury Park Press.

Geroni claimed that police ordered his wife to leave the boardwalk because they were not able to charge her, the NYP said. He alleged that his wife turned herself over to the police after they obtained an arrest warrant.

Travis Williams, a friend of the couple, started a GoFundMe page for Tracey’s legal expenses, raising $9,145 of the $16,000 requested by Tuesday afternoon, according to USA Today. Geroni alleged that his own GoFundMe page had to be taken down because of a “Facebook group of MAGA supporters” who reported it, according to the NYP. The link to the Williams’ GoFundMe page now says that the fundraiser cannot be found.

Geroni, who calls himself “The Clown of Asbury Park” and “The Jester of the Jersey Shore,” has repeatedly posted TikTok videos mocking Republicans. His posts from last August include a video in which he says he is “praying the entire Trump family gets cancer” and emphasizes that his wish extends to the “little kids” in the family. A post a day later said he was “praying the next assassination attempt works.”

Tracey will appear in court on Aug. 4, according to court records cited by NJ.com. The Daily Caller reached out to Delaney Hall and the Point Pleasant Police Department for information but did not receive responses prior to publication.

“Nearly 70% of ICE arrests are of illegal aliens charged or convicted of a crime in the U.S,” the DHS told the Daily Caller in their statement on Tracey’s arrest. “Our message is clear: if you come into our country illegally and break our laws, we will find you, we will arrest you, and we will deport you.”
