Stephen A Smith Goes Off On Anthony Fauci

ESPN commentator Stephen A. Smith unloaded on Dr. Anthony Fauci, demanding public accountability for pandemic guidance that he says nearly cost him his life.

Smith stopped short of calling for prison time in a video posted to his X account. He argued instead that the former health official deserved public shame.

Smith questioned whether the recommendations Americans followed ever rested on solid footing. He said some of Fauci’s instructions ran counter to science even as Fauci presented them as science-driven, faulting mask requirements, six-foot distancing rules and the shuttering of businesses forced to enforce mandates.

The commentator then recounted his own ordeal. “I took the vaccine and I took a booster and I wore masks and we were told, ‘Hey, you ain’t going to get COVID if you do that.’ and I got COVID and damn it, it almost killed me,” Smith said.

Smith described a hospital stay that began roughly 90 minutes before the ball dropped on New Year’s heading into 2022. Doctors diagnosed double pneumonia after more than three weeks of treatment and warned that his family might need to be called if an antibody drug and a steroid failed to work.

“Looks that bad, but we should know in 3 hours,” Smith said, recounting the doctor’s words. He credited his survival three hours later to divine intervention, saying the wait felt like the longest of his life because he believed the end had come.

Smith closed by saying he had done exactly what Fauci urged the country to do.
