Opening a door is one of the simplest tasks imaginable. Yet, the video snippet projected an image of someone completely unwilling to perform a basic task on his own, as if he believed he was more important than the person who scrambled to help him.

The optics on this were terrible. In an era when many people are struggling with rising costs, long work hours, and the challenges of everyday life, watching a multimillionaire’s refusal to enter a space unless a door is held open for him is completely disconnected from reality.

It’s exactly the sort of moment that reinforces the stereotype and ignites rage.
