Towns like Alamo and Victoria, Texas, paid Pulido a combined $57,500 in 2024 for his performances, according to documents obtained by the Caller. Pulido is a Latin Grammy-winning singer who is challenging Republican incumbent Rep. Monica De La Cruz in Texas’ 15th congressional district.

The Board of Commissioners approved a contract between the City of Alamo and Pulido, paying the singer $25,000 to perform a 90-minute set, or roughly $277 per minute. (RELATED: EXCLUSIVE: Dem Candidate Said Molesting Kids ‘Not Necessarily Rape,’ Brought Sex Offender To School)

During the same meeting, the board approved another $30,000 to pay the remaining balance for essential firefighting equipment after they relied on $30,000 in county assistance. Notably, a quarter of the residents in the City of Alamo live in poverty.

When asked about the contract, Pulido’s campaign told the Caller, “The suggestion that a community’s poverty rate somehow means its residents deserve less access to quality entertainment is frankly insulting to the people of Alamo.”

Alamo Mayor J.R. Garza, Commissioner Pete Morales, and Mayor Pro Tempore A.J. Garcia did not respond to the Caller’s request for comment. Commissioner Okie Salinas, who moved to dissent during the vote, also did not respond to the Caller’s request for comment.
