On the same day as Seattle’s season finale, a 7-3 win over the Los Angeles Angels, the club informed Wilson that he will not be returning. The move was officially announced on social media hours following the victory.

“This season has been very difficult, and of course the results have not been what any of us had expected,” said Wilson after the win, per ESPN. “As a result, it was concluded that today is my last day as manager of the Seattle Mariners.” (RELATED: Tigers’ Justin Verlander Walks Away From MLB In Scene That Is Guaranteed To Leave You Choked Up)

In 2025, Wilson led the Mariners to a 90-72 record and the American League West championship, and as a result, he finished third in the voting for AL Manager of the Year.

This season, however, they put up a losing 76-86 effort to miss the playoffs.
