Bakersfield Police Department (BPD) officers responded to the incident and discovered the body of a deceased woman in a pool behind a home on Pineglen Drive, according to KGET. The Kerr County coroner named the woman as Sarwa Aldoori, 71. The BPD said it is probing the circumstances surrounding Aldoori’s death.
Aldoori worked at Bella Health and Beauty as an OBGYN surgeon specializing in women’s health and cosmetic procedures, according to the practice’s website. She had over 35 years of experience and multiple board certifications. She attended the University of Mosul College of Medicine and graduated in 1978, according to licensing details available via the Medical Board of California (MBC). Aldoori agreed to give up her physician’s license in March 2024, according to MBC records. She had allegedly failed to comply with a seven-year probation, KGET reported in May 2024. Aldoori was placed on probation following a 2021 complaint that resulted in disciplinary action before her license was pulled in July 2022, records show. A spokesperson for the MBC directed the Daily Caller to both the licensing details and its records when contacted for comment.

In 2021, the board alleged that Aldoori did not possess adequate training to conduct a liposuction and a tummy tuck on a patient who passed in 2016, KGET reported. The coroner determined that the unidentified female patient, 43, died of a fat embolism as a result of the procedure on the day of surgery, according to the complaint. Adult respiratory distress allegedly also contributed to the patient’s death. Additionally, the board claimed that only four sets of vital signs were obtained during post-surgery monitoring that lasted three hours and 45 minutes and that fluid input and output were not closely assessed.
Aldoori was charged with gross negligence, performing surgery, and administering anesthesia in an unaccredited surgery center in connection with the incident, KBAK reported in August 2023, citing the MBC. The patient sought a surgical consultation for a tummy tuck from Aldoori and her husband, Dr. Yakdan Alqaisi, in March 2016, MBC records showed. The pair of physicians owned a practice called Advance Healthcare together. Aldoori allegedly carried out the surgery while her husband served as the anesthesiologist, according to KBAK.
The BPD did not say if investigators suspect foul play in Aldoori’s death, KGET reported.
